From global to local: strategies for coordinating actions for reef protection across space and time

This session examines how strategies for reef protection can be coordinated across scales, from global policy frameworks to local, community-led actions. Facilitated by Ian Poiner, Chairperson of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, the panel features Selina Stead (AIMS), Theresa Fyffe (Great Barrier Reef Foundation), Gareth Phillips (AMPTO), and Austin Bowden-Kirby (Corals for Conservation). Panelists will share insights on science, investment, industry stewardship, and grassroots restoration, exploring how collaboration across sectors and timeframes can deliver effective outcomes. Together, they will highlight the importance of aligning global ambitions with local realities to secure a resilient future for coral reefs.
